About Pavagadh Temple

The Pavagadh temple is one of Gujarat’s most sacred pilgrimage sites, dedicated to Goddess Kali. It is situated at an altitude of about 800 metres, with devotees either climbing 2,000 steps or using a ropeway to reach the temple.

Officials revealed that the public ropeway had been shut since morning due to bad weather, but the cargo ropeway was still operating, which led to the unfortunate incident.

Importance of the Temple

Pavagadh hill rises from Champaner in three stages and its plateau lies at an altitude of 1,471 feet. The temple attracts nearly 2.5 million devotees every year, making it a heavily visited religious spot in Gujarat.
